Wicca vs. Satanism (FAQ's)

The Answers dealing with Satanism were found at Breakingyou.com, the answers dealing with Wicca are my own opinions and may vary depending on the Wiccan you ask.

What is Wicca?
A: Wicca is an earth based religion revolving around the Goddess and the God, and also the Seasons and the cycle of Life, Death, and Rebirth.

What is Satanism?
A: Satanism is the belief of 'self'. That there is no divine creature that is above yourself. It is a belief in pleasure rather that guilt, intelligence rather that stupidity, independence rather that conformity. It is a religion dealing with individual beliefs, individual choices and individual dogma.

Do you worship the devil? (Wicca)
A: No, Wiccans do not believe in the devil. The devil was created by the Christian religion in order to make Pagans/Wiccans conform to their religion, by naming the Horned God as the devil.

Do you worship the devil? (Satanism)
A: No. That is a misconception created by those who don't understand Satanism.

Do you harm children? (Wicca)
A: No, children are our future, and it would go against the Wiccan Rede: An Ye Harm None, Do As Ye Will.

A: No. It is actually against the Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth. It is also a cowardly act.

Do you have churches? (Wicca)
A: Yes, there are a few founded churches around the US.

A: Yes, there are a few churches founded including the Church of Satan, The First Satanic Church, and The Temple of Baphomet

Do you have clergy? (Wicca)
A: Yes, depending on the Tradition, We have High Priests and High Priestesses. Solitaries and Eclectic Groups/Covens may or may not have a HP and HPS. Solitaries are people of work individualy but may also be in a coven. Eclectic groups may have a steady HP and HPS or they may switch every ritual. Dianic Tradition mainly just has a HPS because it is a female only tradition.

Do you have clergy? (Satanism)
A: Within the individual Churches they have their own heirarchry but there is no "Pope" or "President"

Do you believe in magick? (Wicca)
A: Yes, magick is a big part of Wicca.

A: Yes but it is the individuals choice to use it

What is the Wiccan Bible?
A: There is no one Wiccan Bible, a Wiccans Bible is not called "The Wiccan Bible" it is called a Book of Shadows and it is compiled of rules, rituals, spellwork, recipies and such that is important to that individual Wiccan. Most covens will have a group BoS, but allow their members to have a personal one also.

A: The Satanic Bible is a book written by Anton LaVey that brings forth his philosophies on Satanism

A: No, Wiccans do not believe in Hell or even Heaven.

Do you believe in Hell? (Satanism)
A: No, Satanists do not believe in the existance of hell. It is a creation (and belief) of mainstream religions.

Do you believe in the existence of God? (Wicca)
A: Yes, Most Wiccans believe in a God and a Goddess, not just a God. Some Wiccans even believe that the God and Goddess are within the individual rather than a seperate entity, making the individual a part of the God and Goddess or even a God and Goddess themselves, *My Opinion*: There is a God and Goddess in everyone, because you cant have one without the other.

What are your holy days or days of worship? (Wicca)
A: Wiccans celebrate the 8 Sabbats and the Esbats. The Sabbats revolve around the seasons, they are: Yule (circa Dec. 21), Imbolc (Feb. 2), Ostara (circa March 21), Beltane (May 1), Midsummer (circa June 21), Lammas (August 1), Mabon (circa Sept. 21), Samhain (Oct. 31). The Esbats are celebrated during the Full Moon.

What are your holy days or days of worship? (Satanism)
A: There are none. A Satanist's birthday is regarded as special, celebrating one's own life. Some Pagan holidays are celebrated by Satanists but it is the individual's choice.

What does a Wiccan look like?
A: Like everyone else, they are your teaches, your post me/women, store clerks. etc.

What does a Satanist look like?
A: There are no rules on appearance. A Satanist can look like the guy next door.

Are there any rules to follow in Wicca?
A: Wiccans follow two main rules, The Wiccan Rede and the Rule of Three. Otherwise there are no other rules besides those set by the individual or the coven/group.

Are there any rules to follow in Satanism?
A: Individual Churches have their own rules but in general, common sense and intelligence is a must. There are other guidelines about the Satanic beliefs but no hard core Rules, Sins, or Dogma to follow.
